All About Plum
The Plum Story

Created with natural formulating concepts in mind, Plum products are manufactured with natural ingredients that are clinically proven to provide results. Our products are made using the most up-to-date technologies that are both safe and efficacious.
Plum Core Beliefs
The word chemical is not evil - everything on this planet, except light and electricity, is a chemical. So, yes, there are chemicals in our products and in every other personal care product in every home in the world, regardless of labeling.
Parabens DO NOT cause breast cancer. Nevertheless, we do not use parabens in our formulas.
We do not use Formaldehyde donor preservatives: Imidazolidinyl urea, Diazolidinyl urea, DMDM hydantoin, or Quaternium 15. These ingredients are known sensitizers and while there have been no cases of these preservatives directly causing cancer, formaldehyde IS a known carcinogen.
We do not use Methylchloroisothiazolinone - it is a known sensitizer.
We DO use chemically standardized herbal extracts.
We do not use artificial fragrances in our products - all scents are naturally derived. Fragrance is the #1 allergen in cosmetic products.
Glycols are not bad, and they're not all the same. Glycols serve several purposes in cosmetic formulations, mainly as hydrators for both the skin and the product. The problem that sometimes occurs is that Propylene Glycol is a very small molecule and can easily penetrate the skin and for people who suffer from compromised barrier function, this can cause hyper-sensitivity and discomfort (like a stinging feeling). This problem does not occur with Pentylene or Butylene Glycols. We very rarely use Propylene Glycol in our formulas.
Silicones are not bad. Silicones are a class of ingredients that perform a wide variety of functions: they form water resistant breathable barriers, they smooth and protect the skin, they are biologically inert and therefore do not irritate the skin and they can lower the irritation of other ingredients, they are non-comedogenic, they degrade into harmless elements and have no known negative environmental effects, and they do not harm ozone or contribute to smog.
